Bass Clef Theory
This packet will help a student prepare to complete a level 1 exam for instruments in Bass Clef. Written originally by Cleora Leist and edited by Lily Lazzari post 2020.
"Theory Workbook for Bass Clef Wind Instruments" was created by Cleora G. Leist as an aid in teaching her own students. This book is designed specifically for bass clef wind instruments. Originally, the "Theory Workbook for ...." book series was designed for her private flute students as they prepare for music exams. She found it helpful to specify the clef or instrument in the books as the exams she was preparing students for were all slightly different based on the instrument the student played. Also, if a student just needed to learn basic music theory to aid in their ability to perform with a group or perform on their instrument, all the basics could be taught within the context of the clef they were used to reading.
This book DOES NOT include an answer key. It is designed to be used with the aid of a teacher. Answer keys will be available at a future date and in future editions.
Levels correspond to the number of years a student has been playing. It is possible to jump to different levels within the series as previous concepts are reviewed, however, the higher the level the less review is done and previous knowledge is assumed and there is a greater need for teacher instruction.
The “Theory Workbooks for… “ series, are the perfect books for private teachers, band, and/or orchestra classes.
This book is broken up into sections. Each concept is introduced, then practiced by the student. Each section has a review section and practice quiz. The final section, is a practice test that covers the materials introduced in the workbook.
This book will take a student through music theory corresponding with the first year of learning an instrument.
